A three-car garage is one floor, not three bays.

Garage Floor Coatings in Livermore, CA

RhynoPoxy Coatings coats the large garages Livermore is full of: three-car frontages, tandem bays deep enough for a boat, and detached shops with an RV bay at the end. The bigger the floor, the more there is to get right across it, so it goes down as one continuous surface with the saw cuts, the door line and the perimeter all detailed rather than left to the edge of the roller.

Livermore Garage Floor Coatings Overview

Livermore garages are large. Three-car frontages, tandem bays deep enough for a boat and separate shop buildings on the bigger lots are normal here rather than unusual. A big floor is not simply more square footage of the same job: it has more control joints running through it, a longer perimeter to cut in, and far more area over which anything inconsistent has somewhere to show.

That is why a large garage gets set out before it gets coated. The saw cuts are decided on, the door line is treated as its own detail, and the whole area is laid in one continuous pass so there is no join where one stretch of work stopped and the next began. The systems themselves are the ones described on our garage floor coatings page.

Commercial Garage Floor

Built for the Size of the Floor

Most of what goes wrong on a big garage floor is a small problem multiplied by area. These are the things that decide how a large floor looks once it is finished and being used.

Laid as one continuous pass

A garage floor should not carry a seam across it where the crew stopped for the day. The whole area goes down in a single continuous pass, so a three-car bay reads as one surface rather than as sections that were done in turn.

Saw cuts decided, not ignored

Large slabs have control joints cut into them and those joints are still going to move. They are either filled and carried through the coating or left as a deliberate line. Either way it is settled at survey and priced, instead of being discovered halfway through the install.

The door line finished properly

The strip under the door takes weather, sunlight and every tire that crosses it. It gets a defined edge rather than a feathered one, so the coating has somewhere to stop and the line stays straight across a wide opening.

Consistent from front to back

On a deep tandem bay the far end sits in shadow while the front is in daylight. Material is kept consistent across the whole floor and the flake is broadcast to the same density throughout, so the back of the garage matches the part you see from the driveway.

Shop buildings and RV bays included

Detached shops and high-clearance bays usually sit on their own slab, often older and rougher than the one attached to the house. They are surveyed as their own floor, specified accordingly, then finished to the same standard.

Sealed against oil, dust and water

The finished surface is non-porous, so oil, brake fluid and whatever comes off the tires sits on top and wipes away. Bare concrete across a large garage also produces a constant fine dust, and coating it is what stops that at the source.

How a Livermore Garage Floor Install Runs

  • Measure and walk the whole floor. We measure the full area, including any shop building or RV bay, and walk it looking at the control joints, the fall toward the door, the state of the door line and anything fixed along the walls.
  • Blend chosen from the color chart. You pick the flake blend off our color chart. The blend and the gloss level are written onto the quote next to the system, so there is nothing left open about what arrives on the day.
  • Specification and fixed quote. You get the system, the build, how the saw cuts and the door line are being treated, the full area covered and the install date, priced as one number.
  • Clearing and preparation. Before the first morning you clear whatever will actually move: the cars, the bins, anything loose down the side walls. Cabinets, benches and racking that are bolted down stay put, and the coating is taken up to them on a cut edge. The slab is then ground back to sound concrete, and the joints and repairs are handled before any coating goes on.
  • Coating and handover. The floor is coated in one continuous pass across the whole area, then we tell you when it takes foot traffic and when the vehicles can come back, and hand over the blend specification, a cleaning routine and the written warranty.

Why Livermore Homeowners Choose Us

  • A big floor is quoted as a big floor. Area, perimeter and the number of joints all change the work, and all three are measured before you get a price. You are not handed a per-bay figure that quietly stops describing the job once the garage gets large.
  • One day, whatever the size. A three-car garage is still a one-day install. We bring the crew the floor needs rather than stretching a small team across it over most of a week.
  • The whole property, not just the attached garage. If there is a shop building or an RV bay as well, it is surveyed and priced at the same visit. Doing both together costs less than bringing everything back for the second one later.

Our other garage pages cover Fairfield, Vacaville, Napa, Santa Rosa, Vallejo, Sacramento and San Jose. We also cover Livermore for winery flooring and industrial epoxy flooring.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you do a three-car garage in one day?
Yes. The install is sized to the floor, so a larger garage gets a larger crew rather than a longer schedule. Grinding, repairs, coating and the flake broadcast all happen the same day, and you are walking on it the following morning.
  • What happens to the control joints?
They are treated deliberately. Most are filled and carried through so the surface reads as continuous, and the decision is made at survey once we have seen how wide they are and whether there has been movement. What we do not do is coat straight over an open joint and leave it to telegraph through later.
  • Can you coat my detached shop or RV garage too?
Yes, and it is worth doing at the same time. Those slabs are usually older and less protected than the one attached to the house, so they often benefit more. Surveying both on one visit means one mobilization and one price.
  • Will the back of a deep garage match the front?
Yes. Material is kept consistent across the floor and the flake goes down to the same density everywhere, so there is no shift between the lit end and the dark end. It is worth looking at the finished floor in daylight with the door open, because that is how you will normally see it.
  • What does a Livermore garage floor cost?
Area, the condition of the slab, and how much work the joints and edges need. A plain two-car bay is the cheapest case and a three-car with a shop building alongside it is the most expensive. One fixed number covers preparation, repairs, the system, the blend you picked and the warranty.
